HR King is one of the most exciting new voices in Australian pop music, and one of the few pop artists in the country to achieve notoriety without major label backing. After spending a number of years studying music and acting in New York, King returned to his hometown of Sydney and quickly achieved huge success with his debut single ‘Glamour Baby’. A powerful voice, infectious song writing and crisp production have made him a hit across the traditionally impregnable commercial radio networks.

In 2009 out of thousands of competing artists HR King was selected by Jamie Chaux, the program director of RADAR RADIO (Austereo’s Digital Radio Station) as the first unsigned artist to be pushed on Commercial Radio and given a high rotation schedule for six weeks. The gambit paid off, his track was the second most added song on the Australian Radio Network (outpacing well established international artists including Madonna) and slammed the Australian charts – achieving #1 on the AIR charts and #12 in the Hot 30 countdown (the first unsigned artist to accomplish such a feat). The song proved such a hit it was awarded as one of Radar Radio’s top 10 songs of 2009.

The hype doesn’t stop with Radar Radio though; King has been recognised through a score of placements in the Music OZ Awards, The International IE Music Awards, The Billboard World Song Contest, The UK Song Writing Contest, The LA Music Awards and The Great American Song Contest.
